General

What is DerbyFish?

DerbyFish is a sportfishing competition platform. Tackle shops host branded fishing derbies, anglers compete on live leaderboards, and catches are verified using our BHRV system with blockchain timestamps.

How much does it cost?

Members pay $2/month. Captains (derby hosts) pay $6/month. Pro shops pay $100/month for branded derbies and analytics.

What is BAIT?

BAIT is the in-app currency used for entry fees and prize pools. A portion of every membership goes into the prize pool as BAIT.

For Anglers

How do I join a derby?

Scan the QR code at a participating tackle shop, or browse available derbies at derby.fish.

How do I submit a catch?

Open the app and follow the BHRV flow: take a bump board photo, a hero shot, a release video, then submit for verification.

How do I claim prizes?

Winners receive a redemption code in the app. Bring the code to the hosting tackle shop and they will validate it.

What fish species are supported?

DerbyFish AI can identify most freshwater and saltwater game fish. Each derby specifies which species are eligible.

For Captains

How do I host a derby?

Sign up for a Captain or Pro account, create your shop profile, then use the derby creation wizard in the captain dashboard.

Can I customize the prizes?

Yes. You can offer physical prizes, gift cards, store credit, or promo codes. Set them up in the Prizes section of the captain dashboard.

How do QR codes work?

Each derby gets a unique QR code. Print it and display it in your shop. When anglers scan it, they land on your derby's join page.

Can I run multiple derbies at once?

Yes. Captain and Pro accounts can run unlimited concurrent derbies.
